Funnel Cakes!

Funnel Cakes!

You might ask what funnel cakes have to do with Rotary's mission, but we have the answer. People love funnel cakes, particularly while enjoying their visit to the Somerset 4H Fair! Each summer for the four days of the Fair, our club Rotarians volunteer their time and don aprons to cook and serve up delicious funnel cakes. The funds raised go into our club's charitable giving, including a percentage of sales to the Somerset County 4H organization.

SHIP Mobile Soup Kitchen

SHIP Mobile Soup Kitchen

Over the past year the Club has been raising funds towards purchasing an updated mobile soup kitchen and disaster unit for Samaritan Homeless Interim Project (SHIP) in Somerville, NJ. The vehicle SHIP has been using for 20 years needs to be replaced and in conjunction with other Rotary clubs, The Rotary Club of Montgomery/Rocky Hill has spearheaded this project with the goal of delivering an updated truck in early 2019. The vehicle will be used to continue SHIP's service to those in need, delivering hot & cold meals, 7 days a week, at a variety of locations. SHIP also goes where needed when disaster strikes, having gone into NYC to feed first-responders during 9/11 and to the Jersey shore to offer assistance to Hurricane Sandy volunteers workers.

College Possibilities

College Possibilities

College Possibilities Program is a conference to assist local students in the college admissions and college aid process. Spearheaded by The Rotary Club of Trenton, the Rotary Club of Montgomery/Rocky Hill has taken a major partnership role along with several other local Rotary Clubs. Rotary firmly believes in the value of education and its ability to transform lives. The College Possibilities Event, held at The College of NJ, focuses on students who may feel like college may be beyond their reach. The program is broken down into two major parts: 1. College selection/admission process; 2. College financial Aid. Many colleges from the northeast region as well as college counselors volunteer during the day to offer their expertise and speak with students. Through Rotary’s efforts we hope to make college possible for more people.
